If Harry Potter was a real person, he would be 30 right now. Though the books all came out from the late 1990s through the 2000s, and the movies have come out from 2001-2011, the actual series is set in the early 90s. Harry actually starts going to Hogwarts in 1991! That these books are set in the 90s may explain why no one relies on cell phones or email for communication in the books. Instead, they all use owls! Also, if you remember, they use magic to be able to pause, rewind, and fast forward the Quidditch World Cup, something that would be a lot less fascinating if they already had TiVo.
